Since the 1930's, excitement is what keeps drawing fans back to the Freemansburg Hillclimb. When you arrive at the hill and see it for the first time, you won’t believe that anyone could climb it with a motorcycle. But when the pros fire up the nitro and alcohol powered bikes, you’ll know that you are about to witness some low-altitude flying. With four jumps and a near vertical finish, most riders consider it to be the most difficult climb in the circuit. |
Add to the excitement a judged bike show, burnout pit, vendors’ row, refreshment stands, and a DJ, and it really is a full day of events for just one admittance price. We also offer free parking. |
Returning for 2011, and probably the most anticipated change ever, VERTICROSS: Two bikes race simultaneously up the hill in this new exciting class. |
Join thousands of other hillclimb fans for a day of excitement! Fuel types vary in the Open class between alcohol or nitro methane, which can create up to 240 hp! This truly is an “extreme” spectator sport, since you never know what might happen. Riders may hang on and make it to the top, or veer off in an end-over-end flip and crash! And when this happens, you watch members of the BVMC safety crew dive down to hook the bike, to prevent it from tumbling all the way back to the bottom of the hill. While dangerous and exciting to watch, hill-climbers are less injury prone than motocross riders. A lot of serious injuries are avoided because of the fast actions of the safety crew. |
